2011 marks Raytown's 22st Annual Arbor Day event that started back in 1989 at Minor Smith Park. Since 2000, the Raytown Tree Board has hosted the Raytown's Arbor Day celebrations for the 2nd or 3rd grade classes of one of the local elementary schools.
Every year, the Kansas Arborists Association (KAA) selects a historical site to donate their tree maintenance services. On December 12, 2008, about 40 arborists from several metro companies arrived early in the morning to clean up the trees on the property of the Rice-Tremonti Home in Raytown, the oldest building in Jackson County, Missouri.
